Nature Hike

My neighbor, friend, and former mayor of our town Saul recently invited Gabriel and I to go on a nature excursion with him at his land which is about 2 miles outside of town. It was really fun and these are some of my favorite pics of the trip.

I had never seen so many ants in my life. Needless to say I was pretty happy to get the hell away from that tree

This is the national tree of Guatemala called the Ceiba

What trip would be complete without a picture of ¨The Gringo¨ holding the machete?

Vamos a cocinar

Last weekend my friend and fellow volunteer Lisa came and visited. We made a delicious steak marinade I would like to share with all of you.

1 Pound of any kind of Steak
(They sell T-bones here for a pretty decent price in my department capital…No idea why but here it isn’t a delicacy so I take full advantage)
3 Garlic Cloves
2 Limes
2 TBS Soy Sauce
1 TBS Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 TBS Ginger
1/2 TBS Nutmeg
Salt and Pepper to your liking.
(Optional 1 jalapeño to add to the marinade if you want it spicy)

Dice up the garlic (and jalapeño) and put in a bowl with the squeezed juice of both limes and all the rest of the ingredients mixed up. Let the meat sit in the marinade in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Throw on the grill and serve with steamed carrots, green beans, and broccoli. To really top it off serve with a glass of red wine and grilled pineapple.

Enjoy and let me know if any of you are brave enough to try it out.

Take care,

Drewski
